What is FM200?
FM200 is a waterless fire protection system which works by cooling the combustion process.
The benefits
At FSL we fully understand the fire safety industry and ensuring minimum risk of injury to people and damage to equipment is the highest of priorities. With a discharge time of less than 10 seconds, FM200 is a rapid fire extinguisher that is confidently capable of fulfilling that requirement.
The main advantage of FM200 fire suppression is the small amount of agent required to suppress a fire. With a typical concentration use of approximately 8% by comparative volume, the system has a relatively small storage footprint. This means fewer cylinders and less wasted space.
Refilling FM200 is simple and cost effective and also means less downtime and disruption to your business.
Considerations
Although more environmentally friendly alternatives have become available over recent years,
FM200 is still regarded as a clean solution compared to the by-products produced in a catastrophic fire. It has a minimal atmospheric impact and does not destroy Stratospheric ozone.
The gas is already being used in over 100,000 installations globally and is recognised as clean and safe for normally occupied areas.

Availability
Whilst still available to
the market, FM200 may be about to experience further constraints on price &
availability given its HFC heritage. (HFCs were banned in the Kyoto protocol. However, those used in fire suppression
were excluded from the requirements & being an HFC gas any discharge of the
system will have some environmental impact).
